Today was a super exciting day! We read the story "The Kissing Hand" which talks about being nervous about going to school on the first day, being scared of making new friends, and learning new things! I read it last year but since it was such a hit, I thought we should read it again! :) The story also teaches the students how to say "I love you" in sign language. So many of the students were walking around the halls showing off their new way to communicate! So cute. Below is a little poem that the kiddos brought home today:
It was so nice seeing all of the kids back in school and getting back into the swing of things (almost felt like we were only gone for Winter break or something)!!
After I told the students about my Blog and that our class has one... they kept asking over and over again if I could take pictures of every single activity that we did today! As busy as our first day was, I ended up taking a couple good pictures that I'd like to share with you!
Above is a class photo of all of us showing off our Kissing Hand Poems! Some of us were a little extra excited for the picture! ;) haha I love my First graders!
I found the cutest Gummy Bear Activity to do with the kids today! Another teacher at school had a book all about counting Gummy bears- so I used it with my sorting, counting, and graphing Gummy Bears lesson that I got from another teacher on here that blogs too! The kids enjoyed so much!
Of course when we were all done, I let the kids either eat the gummy's or bring them home! Pretty sure thats when I overheard some of the students talking to eachother saying: "I hope every day in 1st grade is like this!" haha! So yummy and such a wonderful day back at school! It's going to be a great year.. I can tell already! :)
Can I have this activity! it will be fun to do when I teach my kids to count with a little modification! I have a graphing one with skittle and estimating and counting if you would like it :D....weird who thought we would share lesson plans back in the days of lend me your homework!
