Good Afternoon! :)

Hello! What a busy week we had! We got to do so many "get to know you" activities during our first week of school! I found a little scavenger hunt for the kids to do! It was so fun. Some of the questions asked: How many students we had in our class?, Find two words that start with the letter M, and finding numbers around our room.

I took a few pictures to share with you:

So fun! I tried to do an activity similar to this every day as a way to ease into our day! It was also a great way for the students to get to know each other a little better!  We also made "All about me" flowers... and filled in each petal with something they would like to share with the class. It was so nice seeing them work together and find other students that had the same interests! :)
On Friday,  we read a short story together which reviewed many of our sight words from Kindergarten and also our color words. After reading it together a few times, we read the story to a friend. It was so  awesome hearing them reading! They all did such a wonderful job!

Keep up the good work! I'm very proud of all of you! :)

We all decided that we LOVE summer and drew pictures of one of our favorite things we got to do over break! We then wrote a short sentences about our picture! For some of us, this was a little hard, but after reminding the students to sound our words, and try our best- we did a wonderful job!

Our First Day of School!

Today was a super exciting day! We read the story "The Kissing Hand" which talks about being nervous about going to school on the first day, being scared of making new friends, and learning new things! I read it last year but since it was such a hit, I thought we should read it again! :) The story also teaches the students how to say "I love you" in sign language. So many of the students were walking around the halls showing off their new way to communicate! So cute. Below is a little poem that the kiddos brought home today:
It was so nice seeing all of the kids back in school and getting back into the swing of things (almost felt like we were only gone for Winter break or something)!!

After I told the students about my Blog and that our class has one... they kept asking over and over again if I could take pictures of every single activity that we did today! As busy as our first day was, I ended up taking a couple good pictures that I'd like to share with you!
Above is a class photo of all of us showing off our Kissing Hand Poems! Some of us were a little extra excited for the picture! ;) haha I love my First graders!

I found the cutest Gummy Bear Activity to do with the kids today! Another teacher at school had a book all about counting Gummy bears- so I used it with my sorting, counting, and graphing Gummy Bears lesson that I got from another teacher on here that blogs too! The kids enjoyed so much!

Of course when we were all done, I let the kids either eat the gummy's or bring them home! Pretty sure thats when I overheard some of the students talking to eachother saying: "I hope every day in 1st grade is like this!" haha! So yummy and such a wonderful day back at school! It's going to be a great year.. I can tell already! :)

Days Two & Three!

I've went into school a lot this weekend and I've got so much done! I have been hanging a lot of my things on the walls (with some help from my friend, Karlee :) I owe ya!) and organizing my things around the room! Here is a few pictures of what my classroom is looking like now...
Above is my Birthday Graph, I have yet to add my students' cupcakes (that have their birthdays on them) to the graph. :)
A fellow teacher traded me their easel to use this year... Cannot wait to use it! :) Oh and it has lots of storage behind it too! Total plus! Whoop!
And, above my windows I put up my "Class Act" posters to remind my students to show good character! :) I've got plenty more to do- but just thought I'd post a few more pictures as many of you were asking how my room is looking! :)

Finally!

So I wasn't able to get into school until today!  Many of the classrooms weren't ready for us to move our things in. So we had to wait a couple days! But thankfully today I got to bring my things into the school and start sorting through boxes and boxes of my supplies! Since we are in the 'flood zone' we aren't able to open our windows.....so it's super HOT in there! We have many workers in our school still so it's a total mess! But I was a trooper and stayed until 7:30pm and I got to the school at 11:00 this morning! My principal gave us our classroom lists today too! I only have 15 students in my class!!! And, I have a lot of my students from last year! I cannot wait to see them all again! :)

Well here is what my classroom looked like this morning after unloading all of my things, what a disaster!

Thankfully, I had one of my amazing teacher friends (Heather) come over and help me! :) Oh yeah, and she brought me lunch since I didn't leave the school all day! Thank you Heather! After moving my desk, bookshelves, tables, and student desks around the room (about 10 times) this is what my classroom looks like now:

I know it isn't much yet, but it's only day one! :) I'll be going back tomorrow morning to get more of my things unpacked and put away (so excited)! Well happy Thursday everyone! I'll post more again soon :)

Tomorrow's the day!

I'm so excited for tomorrow (well not the waking up early part, ha) as I get to move into school! Since the flood, I have been living in my teenie tiny apartment with one too many boxes full of games, lessons, and supplies from my classroom! I cannot wait to get my new room all set up! I got to go into the school today and sort through some of my Kindergarten/First grade stuff.. and oh my gosh- what a MESS I have! But on the bright side, my classroom is freshly painted, has new carpet, countertops, and I even have windows (last year I didnt have any), oh and I have my own bathroom! YES!

Here are some pictures of what I need to move to school tomorrow...did I mention that I drive a  2-door Eclipse! :) Well, here goes nothing!

This is currently what the one side of my kitchen looks like. Anyone want to play "Dont spill the beans"? ha! ;) Below is a picture of part of my bedroom. I currently seem to be eating, sleeping, and dreaming about teaching!
So, Sept 6th (my first day of school).... will you please hurry up?! I cannot wait to meet my students and get back into my classrom! :) I'll post more pictures soon... until next time!

Welcome!

Well here I am making my very own blog. Never thought that I would actually be doing this, but here goes nothing! I'm super excited to start school (on Sept. 6th) as I get to move up from Kindergarten to First grade! I look forward to seeing my students a few inches taller and a whole lot smarter! ;) Once school starts, i'm hoping to upload pictures of my kiddos and classroom, share lessons, and keep you all informed on what's going on in my room! So check back soon as I will (hopefully) have added something new for you to enjoy! :)
